Harry Kewell will have to wait for a while until returning to the pitch. As one of Liverpool's spokesmen admitted earlier today, the player is yet to suffer another foot operation. Although he has been playing in the World Cup this summer, it seems that his foot injury got worst and needs immediate care.

"Harry has had a follow-up opinion and unfortunately requires further surgery on the foot problem he suffered
during the World Cup. Again, contrary to some media reports, Harry does not have and has never suffered from gout. This suggestion originally came from one of his own Australian team-mates during the tournament in Germany and is totally incorrect
", said spokesman Ian Cotton.

He added: "On his return to Liverpool following the World Cup, Harry was actually diagnosed as having septic arthritis - a bacterial infection in the joints of his left foot. A primary procedure to drain the infection was performed in July but it will require further surgery to address his subsequent problems. The second operation will take place this week in Australia and only after that, will we have an accurate idea on the length of his rehabilitation period".

Harry Kewell is not on his first major problem concerning injuries. The Australian faced a pretty serious injury 2 years ago, when playing in the Champions League final against AC Milan. He went into recuperation and got better, but again had to face several periods outside the pitch due to leg injuries.

He managed to get better just in time for the World Cup in June, but didn't manage to stay out of injuries in Germany either. Kewell got hurt at the same leg and was diagnosed by the Australian doctors with gout.
