Harrison Ford is coming back to the “Star Wars” franchise, having agreed to reprise the Han Solo role under J.J. Abrams’ direction for the upcoming film, it has emerged. Confirmation is still pending though.

However, for what it’s worth, Total Film reports that the deal is a signed one, even though it’s not long ago that Ford was trying to distance himself from the franchise.

“Harrison Ford has signed on to return to the Star Wars universe in Star Wars Episode VII, Latino Review – via Fox News – has confirmed,” Total Film writes.

“Famed Latino Review scooper El Mayimbe appeared on Fox News to announce the story, saying it's a ‘done deal’,” adds the same media outlet, noting that, if Latino Review has the scoop on that, there’s certainly some truth to the rumor.

Since Disney announced it would pick up the “Star Wars” franchise for more installments and Abrams has been confirmed as director, there’s been a lot of speculation about the direction it might take.

Ford coming back as Solo could fuel reports that the first installment would be a Han Solo spinoff of sorts.
