HarperCollins Publishers, one of the largest English-language publishers in the world, announced that it will make digital book content available on the iPhone. As part of an initial pilot program, the company will release samples from 14 new titles online in a format compatible with the iPhone. Most of the titles will be released in August and
September.

The digital book content will be made via HarperCollins' Browse Inside application, which has been adapted for the iPhone platform by HarperCollins' strategic partner LibreDigital, a division of NewsStand. The Browse Inside application allows potential buyers to view sample pages of HarperCollins titles online, helping them decide if the selected book is what they are searching for.

"Reaching consumers on mobile devices and the Internet is increasingly important for publishers," said Brian Murray, President of HarperCollins Publishers Worldwide. "Our digital warehouse gives us the unique opportunity to quickly offer access to our titles on the newest technology, and we encourage people to provide feedback about their experiences."

The titles to be made available on the iPhone, as part of the initial pilot program, include:" The Art of Power" by Thich Nhat Hanh, "Beyond the Body Farm" by Bill Bass, "The Burnt House" by Faye Kellerman, "The Case for the Real Jesus" by Lee Strobel, "Ike, An American Hero" by Michael Korda, "A Killer's Kiss" by William Lashner, "Life on the Refrigerator Door by Alice Kuipers, "Love is a Many Trousered Thing" by Louise Rennison, "Now and Forever" by Ray Bradbury, "Obama" by David Mendell, "Soul Catcher" by Michael C. White, "Sweet Revenge" by Diane Mott Davidson, "When the Game is Over It All Goes Back in the Box" by John Ortberg, and "Winning" by Jack Welch & Suzy Welch.

The book samples will be accessible by typing http://iphone.libredigital.com in the iPhone's Safari browser. PC users can browse the titles available on the Browse Inside application here.
