Harman Kardon is one of the world's best-known manufacturers of high-end consumer electronic products, being involved in quite a large number of segments on this extended market, either directly or via one of its numerous brands. And that's exactly the case with the company's latest announcement for the US, namely the Traffic Assist Highspeed 7934 GPS Navigator, a PND launched under the group's Harman/Becker brand that provides what one could call more or less standard features for such a device, but at quite an affordable price
tag.
Thus, the device features a 3.5-inch color touch-screen LCD display which even includes a day/night display option, a 400 MHz processor, as well as two internal speakers (both for the voice guidance system and the multimedia features). Moreover, the PND comes packed with Navteq navigation maps for US, Canada and Puerto Rico, as well as a speed limit display that informs users whenever they're going way too fast, compared to the speed limitations in the respective area.
As mentioned earlier, the device also provides basic multimedia functionality, namely a JPEG viewer with slideshow function and an MP3/MP4 player. Although these can be quite useful on the road, they're not something extraordinary, as they've become standard features in most modern PNDs.
"We recognize that there are a variety of choices when it comes to mobile navigation," said Ralf Hoellmann, Vice President, Sales & Marketing International (Becker Products) of Harman/Becker Automotive Systems. "Drivers will notice right away the Becker difference - quality German engineering backed by more than 60 years of automotive electronics experience."
Strangely enough, the new GPS navigation system from Harman International is available across the US just at Home Depot stores for around $299, which is not exactly a very high sum, considering the fact that the Traffic Assist Highspeed 7934 GPS Navigator does provide quite an enhanced set of navigation and multimedia functions.
"Harman/Becker is an innovative, well-established brand within the mobile electronics industry, and this new line of GPS devices will provide Office Depot customers with a state-of-the-art navigation solution," said Scott Koerner, Senior Vice President of Merchandising for Office Depot. "The Traffic Assist Highspeed 7934 combines enhanced features and functionality with a great price to create a road companion for all travelers."
