14 DAY TRIAL // Fans of the Harlem Globetrotters can now download and play the famous Spin That Ball game on their iPhone or iPod touch, the Globetrotters and Candystand.com have announced.
The mobile version of their popular Candystand.com game Spin That Ball marks the team’s first mobile game application developed exclusively for Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch devices, according to a report. Spin That Ball for iPhone and iPod touch is also the first iPhone game to be solely team-branded, and costs just $0.99.
“I have always loved being a global ambassador, and I’m excited to now have the chance to be a mobile ambassador too,” said Special K. “Spinning the basketball on your finger is an essential skill for becoming a Globetrotter, and one of our trademarks. It was my first test at my first training camp, and I can’t wait for fans to get to put in as much practice time on that trick as we do.”
“We’ve seen a huge interest in the Harlem Globetrotters online games that launched in February,” said Scott Tannen, President of Funtank LLC, owners of Candystand.com. “The Harlem Globetrotters specialize in fun family entertainment on the basketball court, which is exactly what we strive to do with our branded online and mobile games. It’s always been a very natural partnership.”
The iPhone version of Spin That Ball has users controlling the finger of Globetrotters Showman Special K Daley attempting to balance and spin the team’s legendary red, white and blue ball for as long as possible. Originally developed by Candystand.com, the game has reportedly been enhanced for the Apple platform. Main features, according to the iTunes description, include two game modes - Touch Mode (play with just the touchscreen, tapping left and right to steady the hand and flicking to keep it spinning) and Accelerometer Mode (pretend your iPhone is the ball and keep it delicately balanced in your hands); the ability to save your high scores and, of course, the chance to be a Globetrotter (on your iPhone, naturally).
