Happy New Year, Linux Fans! 2013 has been one heck of a year that brought so many new things it’s hard to keep track. What do you think will be the highlights of 2014?

A curious thing happened in 2013, the Linux platform has become a gaming one. Who could have predicted, only a couple years ago, that this will happen?

We went from a few games to a few hundred in just one year and it very likely that even more will be released in 2014. For the first time, the Linux OS can challenge Microsoft’s Windows on the last remaining bastion, the gaming arena.

Another interesting development is the release of a new operating system called SteamOS, developed by Valve using Debian. This distribution will eventually run on a new console / PC hybrid that will be made available by Valve in the course of 2014.

Speaking of which, there are two major events expected in 2014, the launch of the new hybrid called Steam Machines, and the launch in April of Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty Tahr), a new LTS version from Canonical that already has garnered a lot of attention.

This being said, we wish you a Happy New Year, and lets continue partying like it’s still 2013!
