This holiday season, Marvel is thinking of you and desperately wishes you’d reciprocate. The other day, the movie studio released the photo above from the upcoming “Iron Man 3,” which will hopefully achieve this aim.

It shows Tony Stark / Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) in the woods in the snow. He’s looking up towards the sky, which makes me think he’s expecting something to come falling down.

Even though the caption reads “Happy Holidays from Tony Stark!,” the feel of the pic is far from festive. There’s traces of an explosion all around Stark and his body language is passive-aggressive. Not festive at all.

In a recent interview, RDJ talked a bit about how director Shane Black took the franchise into a darker, more serious direction.

“I think [director] Shane [Black]'s gone for a dark feel in this movie. It's a lot grittier and goes back to its comic-book roots. It's shaped into a really special movie – and Shane has been instrumental in that,” the actor said.

Also instrumental in that: Ben Kingsley, who plays the villain.
