The way that employees perceive work conditions has a big impact on the organization they work for, says a new study carried out by psychological scientist James K. Harter of Gallup, Inc. and his colleagues, published in Perspectives on Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science.

For this research, data concerning employee satisfaction, employee retention rates, customer loyalty and financial performance of the organizations, was gathered from over 2,000 business units of ten companies.

The relationship between employee job satisfaction and outcome measures of the companies was the perspective in which analysis of all information was conducted.

The bottom line is that employee work perceptions influence organization's outcomes more than outcomes affect employee perceptions of their job, because if employees have positive perceptions, their companies have enhanced employee retention, increased customer loyalty, and better financial outcomes.

And as people generally spend more than a third of the 24-day working, the atmosphere and the working conditions have a big influence over their physical and psychological well-being.

It is very important that employees are satisfied with their working place because “management practices that improve employee perceptions of specific work situation variables will increase business-unit outcomes, including financial outcomes,” Science Daily reports.

Harter and his colleagues also note that the way that managers can boost up job satisfaction and thus help their company could be to “clarify expectations for employees by helping employees see the ultimate outcomes the organization is working to achieve and how they play a role in achieving those outcomes.”

Employees will always be the best business card a company can get as they are the image of the success of that organization and also the first to positively represent it. A good working atmosphere and satisfied employees are the key ingredients that boost up a company and make it successful.
