Google turns 15 and what a ride it’s been. September 4 is the day Google marks as its official birthday since it was the day it was incorporated as a privately held company, back in 1998.

Of course, many important events have happened in the company’s life, especially in the beginning, and the anniversary date kept moving around for a while, but Google’s own website marks September 4, so that should settle it.

Google grew from a small ‘web crawler’ to the world’s most used search engine, the developer behind the world’s most popular web browser and mobile operating system.

Of course, the number of tools developed by Google over the past 15 years that have become essential to our online world is much greater.

Gmail, for instance, is available in over 50 languages and Google Translate can help people speaking over 70 languages.

The company is also known as a “green” one since it invests big money in solar fields and green energy in general.

Google is also one of the world’s biggest innovators that’s slowly expanding into hardware.

Just this year, they released the Google Glass (Explorer version), the wearable tech glasses that can keep you connected everywhere, and Chromecast, the dongle that can help you broadcast content straight to your TV through the wireless connection in your home.

Google went public on August 19, 2004 and has since known a steady growth, with some drop in price when the economic crisis hit in 2008-2009.

The company is also a growing force when it comes to web and mobile advertising, snagging most of the money on the market.

There seems that nothing can stop Google from moving forward, innovating and bringing in a steady growth.

What’s your favorite Google tool and what part do the company’s services play in your day-to-day life?
