Google's blogging solution celebrated the 8th anniversary yesterday as it was released on August 23, 1999. If you didn't know, Blogger was first launched by Pyra Labs in 1999 and was then acquired by the Mountain View company in 2003. The two firms didn't mention any financial term but one of the Pyra Labs co-founders left the search giant after only one year. At this time, Blogger is one of the top solutions when it comes to blogging technologies, allowing the users to create, manage and post messages in a matter of seconds. Today's anniversary shows the evolution of the product that is currently used by millions of users from every corner of the world.

"Today marks Blogger's eighth birthday! A time for reflection, a time to catch our breath from yesterday morning, and a time to break out the baby picture. Thanks to everyone who has supported us over the past four-fifths of a decade, and thanks especially to you for all the blogs," the Blogger team posted on the official blog.

Blogger has always been an attractive solution especially for the users looking to create a blog in some simple steps and, what's more important, that would allow them to post messages in a matter of seconds. Blogger's features are focused right on those aspects because its internal functions allow consumers to manage every element of their blog using intuitive menus and well-developed capabilities.

At this time, we can talk about two Internet giants when it comes to blogging technologies: Blogger and WordPress. While Blogger is quite an easy-to-use solution, WordPress can be used in two flavors: one of them that allows users to create the blog on a WordPress subdomain, and the other one that must be installed on your own server in order to publish the website on your domain.
