Today you might think that women doing comedy is a natural thing. Just look that the show put on by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler at the 2014 Golden Globes. But it wasn't always so. One of the women who paved the way through her work on radio shows, quiz shows and sitcoms was Betty White.

She first came to public attention on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and then later with “Golden Girls.” After a hiatus from public life, she made a huge comeback on TV with cameos in shows such as “Community” and “The Middle.”

And now, after 70 years in the entertainment industry, she's still going strong, enjoying a revival in popularity thanks to her appearances on “Saturday Night Live,” where she broke several audience records.

She's done movies, TV shows, written books, and her award list spans several decades, being very difficult to surpass even by the biggest of stars. But then again, she was awarded by the Guinness Book of World Records with the record for the longest television career for a female entertainer.

On her 92nd birthday, she still is the source of endless jokes, of witty comments and living proof that a sense of humor never gets old. She has won the hearts of several generations, managing to keep into the public eye, whereas many others faded away into anonymity as time passed.

At the moment, she's still busy working on a TV show called “Hot in Cleveland” what will be airing its fifth season in March. Also, Lifetime has announced it will be bringing back her show “Off Their Rockers” after NBC canceled it last year.

Not bad for a girl born in Oak Park, Illinois on January 17, 1922. So today, we wish Betty White a very happy birthday and hope she keeps making us smile for many more years to come!
