No one really thought they’d do it, but when Steve Jobs pulled out that shiny first iPhone on stage at Macworld, on June 29, 2007, everything changed. Not only the smartphone industry, but Apple itself, too. The iPhone was an instant hit when the device first saw daylight five years ago. It has continued to rack up
hundreds of billions in revenue for the Cupertino giant ever since, and there’s no sign of stopping.
In fact, if history is any indication, this year’s iPhone refresh will be another game changer, complete with
NFC capabilities,
3D maps, a
four-inch display, and
a jaw-dropping design.
Today, the iPhone is probably the best-known Apple product. Not bad for its first five years, huh?
