New take on the classic story will most surely be explosive enough for modern audiences

Since Hollywood is hellbent on reinventing pretty much everything these days, we might as well have some fun with it. Above is the trailer for “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters,” which proposes a new spin on the now classic story.

Starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the two siblings, the film uses the classic story as an origin point: after their initial encounter with the witch, they got into the “business” of slaying witches.

Just think about it, if we have vampire slayers, it was only about time we also got some witch hunters as well. No one’s better for the job than Renner and Arterton, from what we can see in the first trailer.

“Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters” was initially scheduled for release in March this year, but it was pushed back by almost a year, to January 2013 as part of a marketing strategy meant to boost its odds at the box office.

It will be out in 3D.
