As Chris Nolan fans are on the edge of their seat with anticipation for “The Dark Knight Rises,” let's have a look at his previous Batman film – and its score by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard, in particular.

The Internet is an amazing thing, offering you tidbits of information where you thought none could be had.

Take, for instance, the score of “The Dark Knight.”

The opening piece for the film, “Why So Serious?,” is eerily similar to a piece from the musical “Edith et Marcel” (1983) by composer Francis Lai.

That Zimmer is a fan of Edith Piaf is already a well documented fact, having featured her music heavily in another blockbuster, “Inception,” but the video above begs the question of whether his inspiration goes beyond that.

Check out the video above and let us know what you make of it.
