Toshiba launches an affordable notebook, designed for the masses

Yesterday I told you that Toshiba has joined the growing numbers of brand vendors that are offering relatively light and portable notebooks with Windows 8.1 with Bing which are also quite cheap.

On the grounds at IFA 2014, Toshiba has lifted off the veil off the Satellite CL10-B, which is basically a Chromebook spec-wise, but runs Microsoft’s OS

As you can see in our hands-on photographs, the laptop does seem a little thick and Toshiba mentions in the spec sheet the lappy is 20 mm / 0.8 inches thin (and weighs 1.1kg / 2.4 lbs).

The notebook doesn’t seem to be anything out of ordinary visually, either. It comes boasting an 11.6-inch display with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. An Intel Pentium Bay Trail chip lives under the bonnet and provides the necessary power to keep things going.

Sadly, Toshiba will offer the notebook with only 2GB of RAM and 32GB of eMMC solid state storage. For some of you, it might be of interest to point out that the laptop comes with touchscreen.

The machine is expected to hit the market in Q4 2014, and by then you’ll certainly have a lot of options available, like the ASUS EeeBook X205, which frankly looks a little better.
