A slew of Chromebooks have been unleashed at IFA 2014

A few days ago at IFA 2014 Toshiba rolled out its next-gen Chromebook that arrived with an improved display and a fancier design, which will certainly appeal to many.

We stumbled upon the device on the grounds in Berlin and managed to take a closer look. Right off the bat, you notice the resin chassis which makes quite a difference aesthetically-wise. It also has a nice Chiclet keyboard, an aspect that will probably attract a lot of smirks from Apple fans.

Anyway, this is Toshiba’s first Chromebook to come with an FHD display (1920 x 1080 pixels res) and we should point out the display has a brightness of 300 cd/m2 which is better than the average.

Under the hood lies an Intel Celeron N2840 dual-core processor clocked at 2.16GHz, which again should deliver better performance than that of your usual Chromebook.

Overall, Toshiba has really improved its Chromebook line, both inside and outside, but there’s a caveat to be considered and that is pricing.

Opting for an FHD model with 4GB of RAM will take you back with a hefty $330 / €251. However, there’s the alternative of picking out the simple HD model with 2GB of RAM for $250 / €190. Even so, some of you might not be willing to pay as much for a Chrome-OS laptop.
