The device takes advantage of a C-Pen and detachable battery

Last week we talked about Samsung’s latest Galaxy Tab tablet. The device was launched at IFA 2014, but didn't manage to wow us.

Let me tell you why this is the case. Basically, the Galaxy Tab Active is just a rugged version of the older Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 budget tablet that was introduced a while ago.

There wasn't anything mind-blowing about this product and now Samsung is attempting to make the device more attractive by adding a few extras and offering it as a business-centric slate.

The tab is IP67 certified, which means is water and dust resistant – something you’d expect from any rugged device out there.

The gadget seems quite solid in hand, but it’s a bit bulkier now, thanks to the extra rubber edges. But this downside should cancel itself out if you’re quite clumsy and have a tendency to drop things on the floor a lot.

Anyway, average users might make use of the rugged tablet too, as they can take it out for a spin during their vacations at the seaside or mountains without worrying too much about its safety.

As for technical specifications, the 8-incher offers 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and relies on a 1.2GHz quad-core processor fitted with 1.5GB of RAM to keep things alive for you.

There are two cameras on board (a 3.1MP one on the back and a 1.2MP one up in the front), 16GB of internal storage, LTE and a battery that should provide you with up 10 hours of juice (according to Samsung).

Check out some real-life images of the tab below.
