As I have told you earlier today, Lenovo launched the ThinkPad Helix 2 – a convertible Ultrabook, which brings about multi modes of use.

We managed to track down the device on the grounds at IFA 2014 and got to spend a little time handling it.

Based on our observations, we can say that that the Ultrabook is light, slim, and is quite responsive. Putting aside the fact that the Helix 2 should take advantage of Intel’s next-gen Broadwell platform (Intel Core M chip), which is pretty amazing in itself, a lot of the device’s value comes from its of accessories.

The keyboard Lenovo had on display will offer 4 hours of extra usage time, which bumps things up to a total of 12 hours. On top of that, the accessory is equipped with a bunch of ports like USB and HDMI.

The additional cover, which won’t be sold separately, can act as a support if you want your tablet to stand on a surface like a table. It also has a foldable corner, which unveils the camera when you want to snap pictures. This is a design Lenovo had been using before, but it’s nice to see it offered with the new Helix 2.

When not connected to the keyboard, the tablet part can be positioned in tent, laptop or tablet mode, so it offers a lot of versatility.

Here are some hands-on photos, so you get a better idea of how the device looks and feels.
