If until now you followed up on our IFA 2014 coverage, you’re probably aware of the fact that Lenovo just extended its gaming notebook portfolio with the addition of the IdeaPad Y70 Touch model.

The laptop arrives with a spacious 17-inch display and offers 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution, which is not that impressive considering the industry standard revolves around 3,200 x 1,800 or 2,560 x 1,400. However, a positive point is that the notebook has a touch display, which is quite rare for this form factor.

The laptop was put on display by Lenovo and we got to handle it a bit. It’s not exactly heavy, but it’s not extremely light either, coming in at a hefty 7.5 lbs / 3.4 kg. However, given the large display we didn’t expect it to be an Ultrabook.

The laptop lives off a quad-core Haswell Core i7-4710HQ processor clocked at 2.7GHz fitted with up to 16GB of RAM. In the GPU department, we have the GeForce GTX 860M 4GB VRAM graphics card, which is quite decent and we see that reflected in the lappy’s performance, which runs quite smooth.

The red backlit keyboard complements quite well the Y70’s look, which we have to say looks quite appealing to our eyes. Take a look below at our live photos.
