At IFA 2014, we saw Acer bring forth a new 8-inch tablet running Windows 8.1 with Bing – the Iconia Tab 8 W.

But Acer also had an Android range of tablets taking advantage of the same form factor. I’m talking about the Iconia One 8, which will be marketed under the “Colorful, stylish tablet for everyone” slogan.

Acer is offering the tab in 10 lively colors that should match any user’s personal style. As for specifications, the Iconia One 8 offers the standard 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and takes advantage of an Intel Atom Z3735G quad-core processor.

In this respect, the tablet is identical to the Iconia Tab 8 W which runs Microsoft’s budget Windows 8.1 with Bing, as only the operating system differs.

Acer has bundled the slate with Android 4.4 KitKat, which is a good thing, given the fact how long you normally have to wait for Acer to provide updates.

Owners of the Acer Iconia A1-830 know I speak the truth, as they had to wait months to receive the new Android 4.4.2 KitKat build.

Anyhow, this little Android friend is quite light and comes with anti-fingerprint coating which eradicates screen smudges and is quite effective.

The backside is extremely well curbed and boasts an atypical texture which makes it easier for you to grip the slate into position.

All in all, we think it’s a worthy, little device, especially given the fact that it will retail for €149 / $149.
