Worldwide leading creator and distributor of mobile applications and services Handmark announced on Thursday the launch of six new applications developed for the Google Android operating system. According to the company, the new apps, New Oxford American Dictionary and Thesaurus, New Oxford Dictionary of English, New Oxford Dictionary of Spanish, Astraware Sudoku, Astraware Solitaire and Astraware Boardgames, are part of its initiative towards maintaining its position of leading developer for the Android platform.

Handmark also announced that the new applications were available for purchase from the Android Market. “We see Android as one of the clear winners going forward,” said Evan Conway, EVP of Marketing. “Our expertise not only with the development of quality applications, but also our unique ability to widely distribute and effectively monetize mobile applications make us one of the clear partners for helping brands and other content providers reach the Android audience.”

The company has already established itself as a key partner for the development of Android applications, as well as for their management, and mobile providers recognize its position. There are a wide range of applications distributed through its channels, and it is also in charge with the management of other application stores. According to the company, the new software solutions are added to a long list of top-selling applications developed for the Android platform.

The six new apps have been built on the success of Express News, one of the first apps the company delivered for the Google operating system. The software solution is already considered one of the most popular, as it can offer access to more than 300 news feeds in more than eight languages.

For next year, Handmark intends to develop and support a vast array of applications for the Android OS, coming from major brands and content providers. The company's Mobile Publishing Platform technology has been designed so as to help media companies and content publishers in the process of creating their own personalized mobile applications.
