Handcase, the Brazilian company that provides software solutions for the Palm platform, announced recently that it would present the first 60 applications for the newly launched webOS platform on the Palm Pre, out of a total of 100 it had promised. While at the moment the company is showcasing only the beta versions of the applications, the final versions will be announced in the near future.

Moreover, the company says, the software will come as a service in the web 2.0 style. “We know that we are offering something that in size, mobility and targeting has not yet been offered. We also know that it will be a nice challenge, to offer this software globally, as mobile services, but we are prepared. After all, our extensive portfolio is proof that we can.” says Ricardo Garay, CEO, Handcase.

The apps, the company states, will be offered to users with a subscription. Given the fact that the solution is seen more like a service, users will also benefit from encrypted security, a variety of skins, as well as the possibility to use their own mobile social networks. In addition, carriers will also be able to offer customized versions of the service.

End users who would like to sign up will be able to do so for free. The offer also includes a paid subscription for professionals, though they can benefit from the software for free as well, while companies will have to pay for the service. Even so, Handcase has a free service for businesses as well, Co2Global, the software for management of carbon credits.

One more thing that the company says is that those who already have the PalmOS version of its software will benefit from the webOS one for free. Moreover, it also started to work with MotionApps so as to provide compatibility with the PalmOS emulator for WebOS, states Ricardo Garay. More details on Handcase's offering can be found on its website.
