Multi-threaded video transcoder HandBrake 0.9.9 is out for Mac users with a number of “assorted bug fixes,” as well as some tweaks that should make the software easier to handle on OS X machines.

Among a flurry of general updates (for various supported platforms), HandBrake for Mac now includes better support for MacBook Pros with Retina displays, and incorporates code corrections that prevent the program from going to sleep during encoding and scanning on OS X Mountain Lion.

Additionally, you can drag & drop files onto the Main window or application icon to scan, and displays a “nicer” progress bar on the dock icon. Of course, that’s for everyone to decide.

Some improvements have been carried out to the preview window, and Growl integration has been updated to version 2.0.1. When the Growl system-wide alert system is not found on your Mac, Notification Center gets enabled.
