HandBrake is a powerful tool for converting video from nearly any format to a selection of modern by using widely supported codecs. A new version has been released, and it looks like it's just a simple maintenance upgrade.

Even if we don't get a lot of HandBrake updates, each new one usually brings all kind of interesting stuff, but that's not the case with this latest version. In fact, the things that have been corrected or improved are so small that they don't even get mentioned in the changelog.

"Just a quick note to let everyone know that 0.10.2 has been shipped. This is second release for the 0.10 branch which brings a number of bug fixes and performance improvements. Please note that the built-in updater will be enabled at a later date to allow us to stagger the downloads," reads the official website.

The application supports a large number of formats including MP4(.M4V), .MKV, H.264 (x264), MPEG-4, MPEG-2 (libav), Theora (libtheora), AAC, CoreAudio AAC/HE-AAC (OS X Only), MP3, Flac, AC3, Vorbis, AC-3, DTS, DTS-HD, AAC, and MP3 tracks. More details about this release can be found in the official announcement. You can download HandBrake 0.10.2 for Linux from Softpedia.
