Cyberspace witnesses a war of its own in the Middle East

Hackers part of the IDF Team took responsibility for an attack that targeted a site administered by Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist political party. The site, www.qasssam.ps, was hit after it advertised air strikes on Israeli civilians from the Gaza Strip.

The Jerusalem Post informs that the hackers issued a warning toward the company hosting the site, urging them to take down the site completely or suffer the consequences.

IDF Team is known for hacks that target not only Palestine, but also Iran. At the end of January they defaced the websites of Iranian media outlet Press TV and the Iranian Minister of Health and Medical Education.

As if the physical warfare that takes place in the Middle East wasn’t enough, hacktivists from countries such as Pakistan, Palestine, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Iran began a cyberwar of their own, hacking and defacing sites, and leaking information from their servers.
