The development team at 343 Industries might be at the moment dealing with the issues of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and the final days of the beta for Halo 5: Guardians, but the studio is also aiming to make the newly introduced Universe section of the Halo Waypoint and the Halo Channel crucial resources for all fans of the franchise who are interested in getting more lore info.

The aim is to make sure that gamers understand the ways in which various content linked to Halo, from the games themselves to comics, live-action content and novels, are linked and tell an underlying story.

The Halo Waypoint announcement explains that “Halo’s universe is absolutely massive, and giving the rich palette of characters, worlds, and technology the care and attention they deserve is something that takes time and planning. Very soon you will begin to see the stable of content grow through regular updates and additions.”

343 Industries also talks about new ways of experiencing the Halo universe, although it does not hint at their nature.

The team says that, at the moment, there are small bits of new info delivered on the Halo Waypoint and the Channel, like the full name of Fred-104 or a look at the Arbiter's Sangheili faction.

It seems that info about the Yonhet and about weapon variants might be introduced next.

Halo 5: Guardians is the biggest Xbox One launch of 2015

The next game in the Halo series is a huge undertaking for both developer 343 Industries and Microsoft, set to be launched on the Xbox One before the end of the year.

The new multiplayer-focused mechanics, including Smart Scope and sprinting, have been tested by a small contingent of the community during the beta period.

So far, reactions are mixed and the two companies have said that they will use feedback coming from the community and gathered data to refine the concepts in the coming months, although it is pretty clear that none of the new ideas will be removed.

At the same time, 343 Industries is aiming to create a compelling single-player campaign for Halo 5: Guardians, which will focus on Master Chief once again but will introduce new enemies and will also feature an appearance from Agent Locke, who was introduced in Nightfall.
