Video game developer 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are saying that they are planning to launch a new hotfix for Halo: The Master Chief Collection this coming week, designed to deal with a problem that affects some players when they are trying to join a party.

At the moment, those who have a large number of players on their Xbox Live Friends list are not able to join their friends despite the fact that the system seems to be working fine for them.

The bug has been apparently introduced in the most recent major patch for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which dealt with ranking, betrayals and other issues.

The most recent Halo Waypoint update from 343 Industries says that a fix has been created and that a little more additional testing for it is required before it is deployed.

Developers are also saying that they have narrowed the ranking windows for all playlists associated with Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

The announcement states, "We received and read feedback that indicates that the tightened skill matching has yielded positive results, and ask that you please keep us updated with your findings (here is a rather good place) so we can continue to make adjustments if necessary."

343 Industries is also looking for more info on how party matching is working in Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Quitting will be tweaked in a future update for the shooter

343 Industries says it has observed that some players are attempting to use quitting to exploit the ranking system, so changes will be made in the coming updates.

The company will also penalize all those who sought to exploit the system, and all other cheaters will be discovered and punished to make sure that the playing field in Halo: The Master Chief Collection stays level.

At the same time, fans should be assured that, for a small number of quits in the long-term, they will face no penalties because the team understands that real life is sometimes more important than multiplayer matches.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection gamers should also be careful when they betray their teammates and should take into account the fact that reputation drops will not be implemented as soon as offenses are committed.

It's unclear when a new major update for the shooter will be deployed.
