Video game developer 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are announcing that the next content update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection is currently on track for launch in April and is designed to deal with a number of issues linked to the game.

The two companies explain in an official Halowaypoint article that matchmaking has been improved and normalized with previous patches and that the focus this time around will be on elements like ranking, the addition of penalties for both quitters and betrayals and other tweaks to player interaction.

343 Industries is also saying that it is aiming to improve the playlists offered for Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

The most recent change modifies Halo: CE team size from 2 to 3 to strictly 2, and the studio is currently getting data and feedback on how the tweak affects the game experience.

The company adds, "Based on results and feedback, we’ll be looking to update team sizes and player counts across existing and upcoming playlists, including Team Doubles, as we get closer to the next update."

There are also plans to reintroduce both SWAT and Team Snipers playlists to Halo: The Master Chief Collection in the coming months but no date has been offered yet.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection will continue to get updates for a long time

At the moment the focus at 343 Industries seems to be on making sure that it quickly deals with the problems that the community is flagging down during play.

The addition of new playlists is also a good way to offer variety, but many players would like the resources of the studio to be focused on making sure that matchmaking always works and that players who do not play by the rules are punished appropriately.

Soon the developers will also announce details about the second season of the eSports championship associated with Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

343 Industries is also working on Halo 5: Guardians, which will be offered on the Xbox One in the fall and is designed to deliver both a new single-player story focused on Master Chief and multiplayer modes in which Spartans have a range of new capabilities.
