The development team at 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are announcing that the update that was supposed to be launched later in the week for Halo: The Master Chief Collection is at the moment set to be offered late during the weekend period.

The announcement explains that the delay is needed in order to conduct additional testing on the patch, which is designed to improve a number of elements of the shooter, from controls to matchmaking and the user interface.

Once the update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection gets through the Microsoft certification process, the team promises that it will post full patch notes so that gamers know what to expect when it is finally deployed.

In the meantime, those who are actively engaged with the title are able to enjoy the newly added Halo 4 and Team Hardcore playlists in matchmaking.

343 Industries says, “Team Hardcore currently includes Halo 2 Classic game types. Halo 3 tournament-approved game types will be integrated in a future update. Other fan favorite playlists are also in the works, including Team Snipers, Team Doubles, an objective-only playlist, and more – stay tuned for details regarding when these will become available as featured playlists.”

Fans of Halo: The Master Chief Collection need to offer feedback on the new playlists in order to determine which ones will remain in the matchmaking system in the long term.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection has managed to survive its rough launch period

The fact that 343 Industries is still working on updates for its Xbox One collection is a sign of how broken the title was when it was first introduced in the middle of November.

The studio says that it has plans to continue to deliver patches in the long term to improve the experience, as well as reward those who have played on launch with a free remake of ODST.

The 343 Industries team is also running the beta test for Halo 5: Guardians at the moment.

The new title starring Master Chief is designed to arrive on the Xbox One in the fall of this year and will mix a multiplayer side which introduces a range of new mechanics and a single-player one that will feature a big mystery and an appearance from Agent Locke.
