The development team at 343 Industries surprised plenty of fans of Halo: The Master Chief Collection when they announced that an all new title update was offered for the experience, but it seems that the excitement might have turned into anger for some players, who are at the moment unable to download the update and cannot play the multiplayer side of the title.

The problem has already been acknowledged by the official Twitter account of the franchise, and it seems that both 343 Industries and the Microsoft team in charge of the Xbox Live service are at the moment working to find the cause of the problem and eliminate it.

It’s unclear how much of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection player base is affected and whether there’s any simple way to make sure that the title update is downloaded, like re-installing the game from scratch or something similar.

The new update for the game is designed to focus on the matchmaking mechanics and the studio says that gamers should see improvements in the speed and the results of the system as soon as they start new matches after applying it.

At the same time, players of Halo: The Master Chief Collection should get improved overall stability for the shooter and some Achievements are at the moment easier to get.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection has a long, hard road ahead

The new project from 343 Industries might have been getting title updates almost every week since launch, but the community is still unsatisfied and wants the studio to move faster in order to make sure that all the multiplayer modes work as advertised.

The company is currently forced to allocate to Halo: The Master Chief Collection resources that should have probably been already shifted to its next projects.

Its leadership has also suggested that rewards might be offered at some point to gamers who have stuck with the title since launch despite its issues.

Halo 5: Guardians is the big new title that 343 Industries is at the moment working on, an entirely new Master Chief adventure that will be offered in late 2015 only on the Xbox One.

The game will get a multiplayer-focused beta period starting on December 29, which will allow players to try out the new mechanics, including the sprinting and the Smart Scope.

The single-player story will be focused on Master Chief but will also involve Agent Locke, who was given a backstory in Halo: Nightfall.
