The development team at 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft continue to work on improving the multiplayer side of the recently launched Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and a new update for the experience is designed to eliminate some of the included playlists in order to make matchmaking better.

The following experiences are no longer offered for the moment, according to the announcement: Team Hardcore, Rumble Pit, Halo 4, SWAT.

The company says that the reduced number means it will be easier for gamers to actually get into a match.

343 Industries adds, “While we anticipate that concentrating our players into fewer playlists will have an effect on match times, it will not solve all Matchmaking issues. We are currently investigating CUs and server side tweaks over the next week to address matchmaking issues.”

The studio also says that gamers should be getting into a match about 3 to 4 minutes after they start a search, and they advise all gamers who go past the 5-minute mark to abandon their search and try again.

At the same time, players should make sure that the matchmaking interface looks as it should when they access it.

At the moment, it is still unclear how many of those who have bought Halo: The Master Chief Collection are affected by the problems, but a lot of players are complaining on the official forums and some are saying they will abandon the title until a number of big updates are delivered by 343 Industries.

A major patch is coming as soon as possible for Halo: The Master Chief Collection

The studio says that it will deliver a content update before the weekend starts in order to address a number of problems that were reported with scoring and stats.

Apparently, it will not include anything related to matchmaking other than a small change for team skill matching.

The game is a very ambitious undertaking which is offering long-term fans of Halo a chance to play improved versions of the four core titles that feature Master Chief as a playable character.

Those who bought it now also have access to the Halo Nightfall live-action series, which was overseen by Ridley Scott, and can follow the adventures of Agent Locke, an intriguing new character.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection also gives gamers access to the beta period for Halo 5: Guardians, which will be launched on December 29 and will allow gamers to test the new additions to the multiplayer mode.
