The development team at 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are announcing that the long-awaited ODST campaign for Halo: The Master Chief Collection is now set to launch on May 29 and that they are still testing the new content in order to make sure that it delivers the experience that fans are expecting.

The two companies are stating, "A placeholder release date for the ODST campaign for Halo: The Master Chief Collection was inadvertently listed on the Xbox Store."

On Twitter, the official account adds that final testing for the update and the campaign is on-going and that an official announcement will be made once a clear date is confirmed.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is supposed to get a major update during May, and 343 Industries is at the moment running out of time when it comes to its launch.

The studio is not saying whether it is encountering any problems linked to the ODST campaign or if it is simply making sure that the added campaign does not have the same kind of issues that the full game had when it was initially introduced on the Xbox One during November of last year.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is part of a long-term strategy for Microsoft

Updates and new content are important for the title because it will become more popular towards the end of 2015.

On October 27 Halo 5: Guardians will be launched on the Xbox One, the first game in the franchise designed from the ground up for the new hardware.

When it arrives, a number of players will become interested in playing the other four major titles in the series for the first time or in experiencing the events shown once again.

This means that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will probably continue to get tweaks monthly until the end of the year.

The May update is supposed to introduce some tweaks linked to playlists and to make sure that matchmaking is in the best shape it can be.

When ODST arrives, gamers are also supposed to be able to play the Remnant map.

Halo 5: Guardians is the main project that 343 Industries is working on at the moment, with major changes set to be introduced to both the single and the multiplayer of the series.
