343 Industries has shared a bit more insight about the upcoming Halo: The Master Chief Collection project and how it doesn't use the engine of Halo 5: Guardians, and said that it's coming along really well.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection was one of the big announcements made by Microsoft at E3 2014 last month and now developer 343 Industries has offered a few more details about the remastered editions of Halo 1, 2, 3, and 4, which will debut this fall on Xbox One.

While talking with fans on NeoGAF, 343's Frank O'Connor said that the technology powering The Master Chief Collection was a blend of old engines used by the actual games and some new features added by the 343 team.

According to O'Connor, Halo 5: Guardians, the next full-fledged game in the series set to debut for the Xbox One in 2015, is on a different schedule and couldn't share its engine for the new remastered titles.

He also mentioned that an Xbox 360 edition of The Master Chief Collection would need plenty of tricks and lots of manpower to ensure compatibility. As such, the studio is focusing on the Xbox One and, apparently, work is coming along really well, even in terms of a not-so-polished multiplayer map, according to O'Connor.

Expect to hear much more of Halo: The Master Chief Collection as we get closer to its debut in November.
