The updated version of Halo 2, that's included in the Halo: The Master Chief Collection, will set up the story of Halo 5: Guardians.

Just like the various terminals found all across Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary edition that presented the events leading to Halo 4, from the perspective of the ever lovable robotic archivist Guilty Spark, the terminals found in Halo 2 Anniversary Edition will contain various story teasers, setting up the events taking place in Halo 5.

This time around, the stories will be told by the Arbiter, as developer 343 Industries boss Bonnie Ross has revealed during an interview with Eurogamer. She has further stated that this is all part of the studio's great plan to integrate Halo 5: Guardians with the other Halo-related projects planned for the near future.

As such, Ross has confirmed that the upcoming digital series that will debut at the same time with The Master Chief Collection, Halo Nightfall, will present the backstory of the new protagonist, Agent Locke, serving as a stepping stone for the reveal of his key role in the upcoming Halo 5.

Halo 5: Guardians will be timed with the release of the Xbox Originals live-action series Halo: The Television Series, directed by legendary science fiction filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is scheduled for release on November 11, for the Xbox One platform, delivering Halo 1 through 4 in 1080p resolution, running at 60 frames per second.
