Video game developer 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are ready to announce that they have been working to improve the structure of the Championship events for Halo: The Master Chief Collection and that the second season of the competition will introduce a range of new features.

The company is saying that the prize pools for all the events will be increased in order to make sure that players are encouraged to take part, with the winner of an online weekly tournament now set to take home 1,500 dollars (1,300 Euro), which is more than the entire purse in the previous season.

A new mechanic is being introduced which will deliver all the top eight teams into a Legendary Bracket, with another 8 groups of players coming to face them after taking part in an Open Bracket that will take place on Saturday.

The official announcement explains, "Amateur teams will have more opportunities to compete as they won’t be facing the best of the best teams in the early rounds. It is our hope that this opportunity will provide teams with more tournament experience each week. While the Open Bracket will feature a best-of-3 format, the Legendary Bracket will feature a best-of-5 format."

The first event of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection Championship Season 2 will be Iron Games in Atlanta, with two seeding cups set to take place on April 5 and April 12.

The involved companies are also eliminating the HCS point tiers.

The Championship for Halo: The Master Chief Collection will also have more maps and new roster rules

Transfer periods have been increased to three and these are the only moments when a new player can be added to a team.

There are also plans to add more maps to the Championship for Halo: The Master Chief Collection and a clear decision will be made soon, with all of them set to be featured in the April 12 cup.

The Season 2 opener will take place on April 17, 18 and 19, and the second one will unfold in Indianapolis in June.

The finals are scheduled for the period between July 24 and 26 at the ESL Studios in Burbank, California, and the prize pool will be set at 150,000 dollars (130,00 Euro).
