But don't count the studio out just yet

Bungie is one of the most prestigious studios in the world, but this is all due to the Halo franchise that the company has created. However, this is everything the first person shooter studio ever worked on, so many other developers want it to tackle new and interesting things.

But as the Halo franchise was sold to Microsoft, fans eagerly awaited an announcement about a new project from Bungie, though that wasn't going to happen, as the company revealed that it would work on an expansion to Halo 3, entitled Halo 3: ODST. After that, it seemed that this would be the last project, but at this year's E3 we saw that Halo: Reach would arrive next year.

Now, the senior designer from Bungie, Lars Bakken, reveals that it just might be the last project that the studio will ever do, in terms of the Halo franchise. “In terms of a platform for Halo games made by Bungie, yes. I can't answer that question for Microsoft though. Whether they have something in the works or not, I don't know if they're actually ready to talk about it yet, but in terms of Bungie-produced Halo games, ODST and then Reach is probably all you're going to get.”

However, do keep in mind that the statement is fairly ambiguous and leaves plenty of room for speculation, especially in terms of a potential add-on or expansion for Halo: Reach. Whether or not we will see new Halo titles from Bungie is still anybody's guess, but we do know for sure that the franchise will continue to be handled by Microsoft, meaning that it will expand its video game roots and tackle new entertainment mediums, like anime, with the most recent Halo: Legends project.

Overall, do you believe that Bungie will stop with the Halo franchise, or will the company continue to tinker with its biggest money-maker? Leave us a comment with your thoughts.
