Screenshots posted on the official Bungie blog suggest that their blockbuster Halo: Reach might be getting downloadable content in the very near future, with copies of the game installed at machines at the developer showing more Achievements and Gamerscore points than those available to gamers who have the retail box.

Images that have been posted as part of a Bungie blog post and show 1250 Gamerpoints that can be earned by players and 59 Achievements.

Firing up the copy of Halo: Reach that we have been playing at Softpedia I can see 1000 Gamepoints and 50 Achievements, which implies that the developers have already created new content for the game and have it playable in their offices.

Before the launch date the people working on the game suggested that Reach would not be getting any single player additions but new maps and new game modes that are linked to the multiplayer.

Bungie has not talked about what the image means and will probably not comment on it before it is ready to actually talk officially about the new content but the speed of the development suggests that the company is eager to put together all the content that it plans to put out for Halo: Reach so that it can move most of its resources to a new project.

The multiplayer component in Halo: Reach is very detailed and allows for a lot of game types, with the excellent Firefight one of the highlights and long after the single player is no longer interesting gamers will still take each other out in a competitive manner and new content is needed to keep them satisfied.

Halo: Reach is the last of the titles Bungie will create in this game universe with the company now moving on to creating a new franchise in a ten year collaboration with publisher Activision Blizzard.
