A brand new and quite massive report has appeared online claiming that Microsoft has teamed up with Russian company Innova and developer Saber Interactive to bring forth a Halo Online project exclusively to Russia.

The Halo series has been around for quite some time, and while it did see some installments appear on the PC platform, the biggest releases were exclusive to the Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms.

Halo Online is coming to PC in Russia

Things, however, might soon change, as a report from Russia, via NeoGAF, claims that a Halo Online free-to-play multiplayer shooter is going to launch exclusively in Russia.

The project is apparently coming from developer Saber Interactive, a studio that collaborated with both Bungie and 343 Industries on Halo projects, and features a headquarters in the United States but also a division in Sankt Petersburg, Russia.

The actual publishing is handled by Russian company Innova, which works with quite a few different online games in Russian and other parts of the world.

According to other leaked details, Halo Online uses the engine of Halo 3, but its visuals should be on par with Halo 4, the last major Xbox 360 game that appeared in the series back in 2012. Unfortunately, it's unclear just exactly what visual features will be sported by the online game.

Considering it's supposed to run on as many computer configurations as possible, don't expect stellar visuals, although the graphics should scale on many different hardware components.

As of right now, however, this is still a report but you can expect to see some form of confirmation from Microsoft or 343 Industries in the near future, just to eliminate any speculation.

The Russian market favors heavily the free-to-play shooter genre and it's possible that, after its debut, Halo Online might launch in the rest of Europe or in North America.

Update: It's official, Halo Online is a free PC game coming to Russia this spring.
