Microsoft is getting ready to debut Halo 4 next week and has just offered a new series of figures concerning its popular shooter franchise, confirming that over 46 million copies had been sold worldwide, resulting in $3 billion (around €2.3 billion) in revenue.
Halo games have been extremely popular, managing to single-handedly promote Microsoft’s Xbox and Xbox 360 consoles to lots of new users.
Now, in order to lend more insight into the performance of the franchise, Microsoft has revealed a few interesting figures about the past Halo games.

, over 46 million Halo titles have been sold worldwide since the release of the first one back in 2001.
Since then, the series has generated more than $3 billion (around €2.3 billion) in revenue and Xbox Live users logged over 5 billion hours into Halo games online.
Considering Halo 4
has been awaited for quite some time, you can expect all these figures to rise sharply come November 6, when the game is released for the Xbox 360.
