Still in concept stage

Quite a number of oddities have appeared over the years, but even though most weird gadgets never make it to market, some actually do have the potential of becoming game changers. Designer Steve Hunt may have just stumbled upon one such idea, though the idea is, for now, all there is. What he managed to draw up is a sort of bike lock that can do more than just tie one's bike to a fence or pole. The so-called Halo Bike Lock can actually notify its owner in case a would-be-thief tries anything.

The Halo Bike Lock is flexible and definitely does resemble the heavenly item, though its role is not that of headgear. In fact, it is built in such a way as to not only make stealing harder, but to also ensure that the culprit never gets away with it. For one, the connector cable is housed inside the frame of the lock. This should prevent the possibility of it getting cut too easily. Nevertheless, this is just the minor asset, as Hunt actually went so far as to add wireless communications capabilities to its invention.

Basically, the Halo bike Lock will send tis owner a text message when someone tries to tamper with it. This is possible by means of an integrated wireless card, inserted into the lock itself. For instance, should one try to break the lock off, or just slightly cut the cable, a notification would immediately be sent. This feature may turn out to be especially effective during Summer, when bike riding is far more enjoyable than during other seasons.

Unfortunately, as it often occurs with interesting inventions, Steve Hunt's idea is just that, an idea, at least for now. All one can do is hope that an investor is willing to take a chance and pour some funds into actually turning this concept into an actual product.
