343 Industries has commented on the Halo 5 reference found within a new Xbox One promotional video, saying that it's just a placeholder and doesn't confirm anything about the next game in the Halo series.

Microsoft and 343 Industries revealed back at E3 2013 that a new Halo game was coming to the Xbox One console but, since then, both companies have been silent on the matter, declining to offer any actual details.

After hearing different reports in recent months, a new Xbox One promotional video has surfaced, showing the design of the console and its interface.

Besides that, however, it also displayed an activity feed in which one user played Halo 5 multiplayer on the Haven map in the Infinity Slayer game type.

As you can imagine, this sparked a heated debate and 343 Industries was forced to intervene and offer an actual statement, saying that it was just a placeholder and that it doesn't reflect the multiplayer in the next Halo game.

"The Xbox One dashboard images shown in the recently released 'Xbox One Design Show' video, were placeholder and not indicative of future game content. As previously stated, your next 'Halo' journey will begin in 2014, and we’ll have more detail to share at E3 in June," the studio said on its website.

Check out the video below and look for the reference at around 0:50.
