Halo 5: Guardians is probably about one year away from its launch date, but interest in the game is already very high after the development team at 343 Industries revealed that it was planning to introduce a range of rather controversial gameplay changes to the shooter, which would have a big effect on the multiplayer modes.

A new hourlong gameplay video taken by ReadyUpLive during the HaloFest in Los Angeles allows gamers to take a look at the Slayer and the Breakout modes for the shooter as they are being played on the Empire, Truth and Crossfire maps.

There’s no commentary, which means that gamers can pay more attention to how the various characters approach combat and how the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians looks and sounds.

At the moment, the general public has no access to the shooter, but all those who have already picked up Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be able to use a unique code to get access to the beta testing period which will start on December 29 on the Xbox One and will run for no less than three weeks.

The development team has not offered any details on the maps and the modes that will be offered for testing but it has said that all new mechanics will be introduced so that fans can form an opinion about them and then deliver feedback.

All comments will be taken into account as development work on Halo 5: Guardians will continue in 2015, but the core features will not be eliminated just based on public opinion.

Halo 5: Guardians is the first in the series delivered specifically for the Xbox One

The new shooter starring Master Chief is the first in the series which allows the team to explore all the extra hardware power introduced by the Xbox One home console.

Hints about the story that will be delivered are offered by the Halo Nightfall live-action series, which introduces Agent Locke.

Rumors have said that the game will only feature about half a campaign told from the perspective of Master Chief, with other characters also taking center stage.

When it comes to the multiplayer experience for Halo 5: Guardians, 343 Industries is introducing more movement options, including a sprint that makes the shield unable to recharge and a slide move.

At the same time, the Smart Scope was added in order to make it easier for gamers to take out enemies while they are moving.
