Halo 5: Guardians is the cover story in the latest issue of GameInformer and quite a lot of fresh details are available. Among the most important ones is the fact that the famous Blue Team joins Master Chief in the story mode, both in the regular solo experience and the four-player cooperative one.

Halo 5: Guardians is, without a doubt, one of the most anticipated Xbox One exclusives of the year. Developer 343 Industries already organized a multiplayer beta at the beginning of the year to ensure that the online mode works as intended, and through its Hunt the Truth campaign, it's shared quite a lot of details about the story mode.

Halo 5: Guardians brings the Blue team to center stage

Now, as part of the announcement that Halo 5: Guardians is the cover story of June's GameInformer magazine, quite a lot of fresh details are confirmed for the first time.

Most importantly, the Blue team of Spartans is taking on a center role in the game, after going on different adventures as part of the extended universe. Apparently, the three new super-soldiers will help Master Chief come to grips with the story in Halo 5.

"Linda, Fred, and Kelly were abducted when they were six years old alongside John to be turned into Spartan-II super soldiers. This tight-knit squad grew up together and battled through many adventures in the expanded fiction, but this will mark their first significant role in a core Halo game. Blue Team steps up to interact with Chief, appear in cutscenes, and accept commands from him in single-player. In co-op play, everyone takes on a specific member, each with a different loadout unique to their specialty," it is revealed.

Meanwhile, the other part of the story follows Spartan Jameson Locke, who recruits his own fireteam codenamed Osiris, in order to track Master Chief and Blue team who've gone AWOL.

New multiplayer details include a confirmation of the revamped Arena mode, as well as the tour of a new map called Fathom that's an undersea base with all sorts of hidden surprises.

Expect all the coverage from this month's GameInformer to appear in the following days. Until then, check out the cover image above.
