Video game developer 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft announced that, during next week, their shooter Halo 4 would get an entirely new playlist dedicated exclusively to the Extraction game mode and new maps for players to enjoy.

The change will take place on March 4 and is designed to give players more options for their multiplayer sessions.

Extraction is a mode that sees teams of five players each competing to extract assets from a number of map locations.

A beacon must be planted in certain areas and then protected while extraction takes place for a team to get one point, in a race where the winner needs to get to five first.

Capture the Flag is also getting two new maps, according to CVG.

343 Industries states, “Simplex, an arena-style map from community forger SaLoT, has seen the spotlight in both the Community Forge Test and Team Throwdown playlists.”

The team adds, “Settler is a fast paced, semi-symmetrical on-disc Ravine variant that rests atop a verdant cliff side - it will be appearing in Matchmaking for the first time, slightly tweaked for 5 vs. 5 CTF.”
