Nielsen, which is best known for the ratings it releases related to television programs but also offers several charts focused on videogames, is saying that Halo 3: ODST is the most wanted game in a customer survey made following the E3 trade show.

But there are many other titles that appear to be much wanted by gamers, getting quite high values in the category “probable purchase intent.” The data was acquired by Nielsen between June 7 and 14.

Halo 3: ODST has 53% purchase intent, the only title wanted by more than half of the people asked, while a close second is God of War III from Sony, with 49%. Third sport is taken by Wii Sports Resort from Nintendo, with 45%, as the first videogame, which will reveal the true capabilities of the Wii Motion Plus add-on.

Guitar Hero 5 is also very much wanted by gamers, with being 42% interested in it, while Final Fantasy XIII, which is coming in Japan this winter, gets a purchase intent from 37% of those surveyed.

The sixth position is taken by Madden NFL 10, with 35%, followed closely by Guitar Hero: Van Halen (34%). A cluster of four games has the same probability buy rating of 32%: Assassins Creed 2, Need for Speed: Shift, Need for Speed: Nitro, and NCAA Football 10. The last videogame listed is The Beatles Rock Band, with 30%, lagging far behind the numbers posted by the Guitar Hero family.

Nielsen is saying the shifts that can be attributed to videogames being presented at E3 are rather limited, creating movements of about 1 or 2% in the purchase intents of gamers. Interestingly, another Nielsen report stated that the title which got the most “buzz” online at E3 was New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Wii.
