The gaming industry has seen over the years quite a few franchises gain a cult-like following due to their innovative gameplay features, intricate stories or solid multiplayer set-up. Bungie and Microsoft's Halo franchise has become well-known for all of these things, being considered one of the best console shooters ever to grace the Xbox and Xbox 360.

The IP is now in the hands of Microsoft, which has already developed one new property based on it, in the form of Halo Wars, but this doesn't mean that its creators, the team at Bungie, isn't working on new things. We've already heard of the Halo 3: ODST expansion, an add-on set to arrive in fall this year on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

But until that moment comes, the development team has released the Mythic Map Pack for Halo 3, which brings three new maps for the players to slaughter in the variety of multiplayer modes that the title supports. Consisting of Orbital, Assembly and Sandbox, the pack will guarantee thrilling multiplayer adventures for all of the players.

“The long-awaited Mythic Map Pack drops into Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Investigate Orbital’s abandoned hallways - before it was evacuated, the Quito Space Tether was heralded as the Civil Engineering Monument of the Millennium,” read the official press release from Microsoft. “Witness Assembly, where Scarab hulls loom overhead, being decontaminated in preparation for the city-sized Lekgolo colonies that will breathe life into the massive metal husks. An excavation site surrounded by deadly Forerunner defenses, the mysteries of Sandbox are hidden high above, deep below, and right before your eyes.”

Sandbox will also take advantage of players’ creativity, as it has a lot of empty areas that gamers will fill up with the Forge map creation tool. For 800 MS Points, a lot of people will certainly download it so that they are able to enjoy fresh multiplayer action in Halo 3.
