So you are a Halo fan and you just can't wait for Halo 3 to come out? You can help Bungie to further improve the game by testing it. How do I do that? many of you might ask. I have to inform you that Halo 3 multiplayer beta sign-ups are now underway at Halo3.com.

If you want to be a Halo beta tester, all you need is a Xbox 360 hard drive and Xbox Live Gold membership account. And yeah, I almost forgot, a Microsoft .NET Passport account alongside a valid gamertag linked.

The public beta program for Halo 3 will start in the spring of 2007 and for the time being, these sign-ups are meant for US and Canadian residents only. European gamers will soon get their turn, and as soon as I have word on this matter, I'll let you know.

If you are an American or Canadian resident, there are still some requirements you must comply with. You have to be at least 17 years old, you wouldn't want 11-year-olds deciding on how Halo 3 will look, would you? I must warn you that registration is limited to one person per Xbox Live gamertag. If you are selected, you can't give away your invite nor can you sell it for money.

So far, an exact release date for Halo 3 was not announced but for sure this Bungie FPS will see the light of day sometime in 2007. Back in 2005, Bill Gates declared in the Time Magazine interview that Halo 3 would be released as close to the PlayStation 3's launch as possible. This would have been a great gimmick to divert PS3 sales, but I guess it's safe to say that Microsoft managed even without Halo 3.
