Finally, I was beginning to forget that there was a Halo 2 for the PC. Microsoft's Games Studios has just announced that the eagerly awaited Halo 2 for Windows Vista, will be available on June 8. Halo 2 Vista is the sequel to Halo: Combat Evolved (the first PC installment of the series), featuring the same main character: Master Chief.

The story of Halo 2 for the PC is exactly the same as for the Xbox installment, but just in case you weren't around when it was released, or didn't get the chance to give it a go, here it is, in short:

Bungie's first-person shooter takes place in a universe called Halo, where humans have occupied numerous worlds due to the development of superluminal travel. More than 32 years before the beginning of Halo 2, the outer colony world of Harvest was destroyed by a collection of alien races, called the Covenant. Since then, the humans and covenants have been locked into this bloody war, taking place not on a planet, but on the actual halo (pictured left). Shortly before the events of Halo 2, the Master Chief heads to Earth after destroying a covenant fleet to warn of an impending covenant attack on humanity's home planet.

The Halo series is currently the most popular console FPS, featuring all kinds of vehicles and weapons, combining a fast-paced gameplay with razor sharp visuals, which not even Jack Thompson could stay away from, if he decided one day to actually try and have fun for once.

Halo 2 Vista is no different from previous installments (concerning gameplay, characters and items), featuring more than 14 human and alien weapons (players are allowed to carry two weapons at a time), each weapon having their own advantages or weak spots, depending on the area and number of opponents.

Remember Halo 2 for Windows Vista will be in stores June 8. The game has been stamped with a 34.99 pounds price tag. Most importantly, Halo 2 PC gamers will also be able to connect to LIVE. Halo 3 for the Xbox 360 is currently undergoing a general Beta trial, waiting to be released on September 26 in Europe. The rest of the world will see it a day earlier.
