The development team at Riot Games plans to add a new champion to their popular Multiplayer Online Battle Arena title, League of Legends, via a new update which will be Halloween-themed and will be offered on the PC on October 31.

The new content pack will include Elise the Spider Queen, which the team says was first thought up three years ago but was delayed because it is hard to actually implement in the game.

Elise has the ability to switch at will between human and spider forms and has very different skills for each incarnation.

Riot Games is also adding The Shadow Isles to League of Legends, although it is not clear whether this is an entirely new area or just a new skin offered for one of the maps that are already included in the game.

The developers are also adding skins for existing characters: Headless Hecarim, Haunted Maokai and Underworld Twisted Fate.
