14 DAY TRIAL // Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry were once one of the best looking, adorable coupe in showbiz but those days are long gone. Ever since breaking up, they have been engaged in a very nasty custody battle and, on Thanksgiving, things escalated to physical violence between them.
The model was arrested at her house over the holiday, after getting into a fight with Halle’s current beau and fiancé, actor Olivier Martinez, Fox News reports.
For the time being, no one knows what caused the dispute to become physical, but it’s not hard to imagine what may have prompted it, considering how much the two have been fighting in court for custody of Nahla, their daughter.
Aubry was hospitalized as a result of the fight and then arrested.
“Aubry, 37, was booked Thursday for investigation of a battery, a misdemeanor, and released on $20,000 [€15,520] bail, according to online jail records. He's scheduled to appear in court Dec. 13,” Fox News informs, citing online reports.
“Aubry came to Berry's house Thursday morning, and police responded to a report of an assault, said Los Angeles Police Officer Julie Boyer. Aubry was injured and was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released,” the same media outlet reports.
Earlier in their custody battle, Halle claimed in court that Aubry had been violent to her and their daughter, which made her call for a breakup.
He always denied the charges, bringing witnesses to say he was nothing but an extremely attentive and loving father, and a patient and understanding man who would never raise a hand on anyone, let alone a woman.
Berry, on the other hand, has also been trying to convince a judge to let her and Martinez move to France with Nahla, thus shutting Aubry completely out of her life because he would have a hard time traveling such a distance on a regular basis to be with her.
The star’s argument for this demand is that, in France, there are certain laws that protect a celebrity kid from the paparazzi, laws that do not exist in the US.
